Man Accused Of Trying To Fraudulently Buy $50K Worth Of Jewelry: Greenwich Police
Police were notified of "suspicious activity" at a local business on Greenwich Avenue on June 13, according to an arrest report.

GREENWICH, CT — A California man was arrested in Greenwich on Thursday after police say he tried to fraudulently purchase $50,000 worth of jewelry from a store on Greenwich Avenue.
Bogdan Paun, 54, of Tarzana, Calif., was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree larceny; payment card theft; more than $500 on a revoked payment card; first-degree identity theft; criminal impersonation; and second-degree forgery.
According to an arrest report, police were notified around 1:30 p.m. on June 13 of "suspicious activity" at a local business on Greenwich Avenue — the address associated with the incident is Manfredi Jewels.

Patrol officers and plainclothes officers working in the area were able to detain a man later identified as Paun, his arrest report said.
An investigation found that Paun was trying to use a stolen credit card with a counterfeit Washington state ID card to impersonate someone else in order to buy $50,000 worth of items.

Capt. John Slusarz of the GPD told Patch Paun was trying to buy several watches and a silver bracelet.
A search of Paun's car found additional counterfeit IDs bearing his photo, and more stolen credit cards.
Paun was unable to post a $250,000 bond; he's scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 28.
