Meteorologist Geoff Fox Returns To CT's Airwaves

The popular weather forecaster, who has battled pancreatic cancer the past year, will return to his old stomping grounds next week.

Geoff Fox is back! The lovable meteorologist, who left WTNH-TV in 2011 after 27 years and who has battled pancreatic cancer over the past year, is returning to Channel 8 this summer beginning on July 3 at 5 p.m.

He announced the development on his Facebook page Wednesday evening, stressing how excited he is about the opportunity and thanking his loyal Connecticut fans for all their support through social media.

"They've given me this chance to have a little fun this summer," said Fox of the team at WTNH, including General Manager Rich Graziano and News Director Keith Connors. "And I really excited about it!"

Fox will broadcast his segments from his home studio in California, and is slated to appear during the 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts during the week. Fred Campagna, the station's senior meteorologist, will travel around the state this summer to shoot segments on the road, and will also take some vacation. While he's not saying he's cured of pancreatic cancer, nor that it's in remission, Fox is able to do this because he is feeling much better and completed his chemotherapy treatments on June 22. "I'm not going to miss chemo one little bit," he wrote on his blog, which he used in part to chronicle his treatments.

"Right now, there's no sign of cancer in me," said Fox. "That includes my blood, and physically I had a scan about a month ago, so all that's good."

He will still be closely monitored and will take various tests on a regular basis.

"How many people get to live out the fantasy of every employee who's been fired, in that they call you and ask you to come back?" he joked.

But in the end, Fox wanted to make it clear that it was the support of his loyal fans who made it happen.

"So who do I owe all this to? The answer is you guys on social media. This is just crazy. You understand that you did this all.

"I really love you guys in Connecticut, who have been so loyal and true to me, and so nice to me and so supportive of me this last year."
