Monitoring Hurricane Matthew, Possible Impact on Connecticut
Two leading CT meteorologists say Hurricane Matthew's track remains uncertain but the powerful storm needs to be watched closely.

Everyone wants to know what will happen with powerful Hurricane Matthew and what impact, if any, it will have on Connecticut’s future weather forecast. (Sign up here to get storm updates directly to your inbox)
The answer remains the same as it has been the past couple of days: No one knows anything for certain as of now.
The one thing that seems like a fact is that the hurricane is about a week away from potentially impacting the state’s weather, and of course it could still move well out to sea too and have very little impact on us.

NBC Connecticut meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan wrote on his Facebook page Monday that “Hurricane Matthew continues moving toward Haiti and Cuba this morning. When the storm leaves the Bahamas the track remains unclear. Everyone from Florida to Maine will have to watch the storm closely.”
In a video on his Facebook page, WTNH News 8 meteorologist Gil Simmons said right now there are two scenarios with Matthew that he is watching. One keeps it in the Carolinas, possibly even into early next week, and the second is the hurricane tracking to the east of Cape Cod.

He said it’s a little “close for comfort” but is still a week away from possibly impacting our area. He of course stressed that a lot can change over seven days.
As for Monday’s back-to-work weather, Simmons wrote on Facebook: “The weather will be pretty good through the middle of the day, then a scattered shower or thunderstorm after 4 PM. I expect the weather to get nicer and nicer through the rest of this week with some sunshine and temperatures near 75.”
And back to the here and now in Connecticut, despite some rain Friday and very little this weekend, CT remains very much still in a drought.
Besides the scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm Monday afternoon, the forecast is rain-free until the weekend, when the National Weather Service is hedging its bet and calling for showers possibly and also sunny skies.
Here is a quick look at the forecast via the National Weather Service:
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy in southern CT and mostly sunny in northern CT with temps in the mid 60s.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: Mostly sunny skies and temps near 70 each day.
Saturday and Sunday: Sun and a 30 percent chance of showers on both days.
