Southern CT Weather: Snow Ends, Advisories, Warnings Cancelled
There are several warnings and advisories still in effect for Southern Connecticut this morning.

As of 10 a.m. Friday all weather advisories and warnings have been cancelled concerning last night's major winter snowstorm, the National Weather Service says. Snow is ending this morning and it will be dry for the remainder of the day and for most of the weekend.
"10 am update: Precipitation is winding down and all winter headlines have expired. However, Wind Advisories are still in effect through 12 pm today. Wind gusts of 40-45 mph are still possible along the coast."
A band of heavy snow just over the New York line will be approaching Connecticut soon, according to WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons. So this means a surprise snow-storm that dropped up to 10 inches of snow in certain spots isn't quite done with us yet, especially in inland sections of Fairfield and New Haven counties.

And there is a Coastal Flood Warning for the entire Connecticut coastline from Greenwich to Stonington until 9 a.m.
"There is an elevated threat of property damage. Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect 2 to 3 feet of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. This will result in numerous road closures and cause widespread flooding of low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront. Vehicles parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the waterfront along tidal rivers and bays.
SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves will result in beach erosion and flooding with minor damage possible to dune structures during the times of high tide."
And there is a Wind Advisory in effect until noon for the entire coast too.
"WINDS...Northeast becoming northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
* TIMING...This morning.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected."
Once the snow and rain showers end by late morning Friday it will be cold with temps in the low 40s and very windy.
Saturday looks good with sun and temps near 50 degrees while Sunday is cooler with temps in the low 40s. More snow showers are possible Sunday night and into Monday morning. More on that later.
Thursday's snowstorm caused havoc on Connecticut roads all across the state. Numerous highways were shutdown at some point including I-84 in Southbury, I-95 in Greenwich and Stamford. An accident on the Milford Connector forced motorists to sit in their cars for hours. Motorists were stuck approaching the tunnel on Route 15 heading from Woodbridge into Hamden.
Motorists weren't able to travel through the heavy, quick accumulating snow. Numerous cars were found abandoned on highways during the storm.
I know it's a nightmare but I'm cutting @CTDOT_Statewide slack. It was a "perfect storm" for roads. Sudden ramp up from flurries to heavy snow, 2"+ per hour rates, small enough storm for people to not change plans, plenty cold for easy accumulation. Only so much can be done.
