New Assistant Principal Appointed At Cos Cob School
The new assistant principal comes to Greenwich from Consolidated and Meeting House Hill School in New Fairfield.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones this week announced the appointment of Steven Groccia as assistant principal at Cos Cob School, effective July 1.
The position opened up following the resignation of Jeremy Boland, who was placed on administrative leave on Aug. 31, 2022, after a surreptitiously recorded video posted by Project Veritas appeared to show Boland making disparaging remarks about Catholics and his own personal hiring practices in the workplace.
Groccia will support the entire Cos Cob community, assisting in the development and achievement of school goals and objectives, while advocating on behalf of all students, the school district said in a news release.

"I am honored to be named the next assistant principal of Cos Cob School and I look forward to being a part of a community that places such a high value on education," Groccia said in a news release. "I intend to work collaboratively with the families, dedicated staff, and most of all the amazing students that comprise Cos Cob to achieve their personal and academic goals. I am confident that the skills I have developed during my prior experience will enable me to contribute positively to the well-established tradition of academic excellence of Greenwich Public Schools. I am grateful for this opportunity and excited to continue the exceptional work currently taking place under Principal Gavin’s leadership."
Groccia comes to GPS from Consolidated and Meeting House Hill School in New Fairfield where he currently serves as an elementary assistant principal. While there, Groccia has been instrumental in helping to guide the smooth transition of a newly constructed school building supporting over 950 students in grades PreK-5 and more than 150 certified and non-certified staff members.

He is known to be an outstanding instructional leader, having taught early childhood and upper elementary grades, while also chairing Special Education Planning and Placement Teams (PPT) and 504 meetings, GPS said.
"Steven Groccia is a highly qualified school administrator who will be a great addition to the Cos Cob School team," Jones added in a news release. "We offer our deepest gratitude to Ms. Karen Vitti who, with tremendous dedication and commitment, has been on special assignment to cover the assistant principal role since September."
Cos Cob School Principal Kerry Gavin said Groccia brings a professional background of both elementary instruction and elementary instructional leadership that will help support students and staff at the school.
"Steven shares our dedication to building a positive school culture, partnering with families, and representing the Cos Cob community as active members," Gavin added in a news release.
Prior to his time in New Fairfield, Groccia served as a kindergarten and fourth grade teacher at Holmes Elementary School in Darien from 2017 through 2022, and a kindergarten and second grade teacher at the Academy of Aerospace and Engineering Elementary School in Rocky Hill from 2013 through 2017.
Groccia holds a bachelor's degree in elementary education from the University of Hartford, a master’s degree in STEM education from Central Connecticut State University, and an Educational Administration & Supervision Sixth-Year certificate from the University of Bridgeport.
