CT Weather: Florence To Bring Heavy Rain, Flooding Tuesday

New details have been released concerning what impacts Connecticut will see from the remnants of Hurricane Florence.

As we get closer to the arrival of the remnants of Hurricane Florence new details are emerging considering the potential impacts. It now appears that northern sections of the state will see the most significant impacts. Up to four inches of rain is possible in Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties.

Southern Connecticut will also see plenty of impacts from Florence including up to an inch and a half of rain. Anyway you look at it Tuesday will not be pleasant in Connecticut and flooding is going to be a concern in some areas of the state.

A silver lining is once this storm moves through Wednesday, Thursday and Friday look gorgeous with sunshine and temps in the mid 70s.

Here is the updated advisory for Southern Connecticut for Tuesday:

The remains of Florence are currently forecast to bring one to one and one half inches of rain to the region, with locally higher amounts possible, from Monday afternoon into early Tuesday evening. While the most likely possibility is minor flooding from any heavy rainfall, there is still a low chance for mainly localized flash flooding."

Here is the updated advisory for Northern Connecticut for Tuesday:

There is a threat for heavy rainfall and flash flooding associated with the remnants of Florence sweeping across the region. Storm total rainfall around 2 to 4 inches, locally heavier amounts possible. Our region fairly well saturated as it is, there is the additional threat of small streams and tributaries becomingswollen potentially coming out of their banks."


Forecast for rest of today, Monday

High pressure slowly slides off the New England coast into Monday. The result, after any early morning clouds or fog dissipates, will be abundant sunshine today and limited cloud cover tonight. Highs today should be a few degrees above normal - mainly from the mid 70s to around 80. Lows tonight should be around 5 to 10 degrees above normal.

The remnants of Florence should bring some rain, locally heavy at times, to the region from Monday afternoon into early Tuesday evening, and possibly a rumble of thunder as well.
