CT Weather: Heavy Rain Now, Thunderstorms Wednesday
A top Connecticut meteorologist describes the weather today as "yuck" and that definitely seems appropriate.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for all of Connecticut as heavy rain moves through this morning and into the afternoon before it tapers off to showers tonight. Many places could pick up two inches of rain.
Along with the rain and potentially flooding concerns, there is also a chance for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday. The thunderstorms could produce strong wind gusts. The good news is once this stormy weather moves through on Wednesday our weekend looks great with sun and early fall-like temps.
For Southern Connecticut, the National Weather Service says, "SPC has placed the area in a slight risk for severe thunderstorms on Wednesday. The main threat with these storms will be gusty winds. Some storms may become severe, with damaging winds."

For Northern Connecticut, the National Weather Service says, "Rain heavy at times from late this morning into the afternoon may result in minor street and highway flooding."
"There is a low risk for a few strong or severe thunderstorms Wednesday morning along the South Coast. Another chance will occur late Wednesday afternoon and early Wednesday night...mainly across interior southern New England. Main concern would be strong to locally damaging wind gusts." WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons says, "What a day today! Yuck! The rain will be heavy at times & a raw feel all day. High temperatures in the 50s lower 60s. The rain will be around for the evening commute. Scattered showers tonight. It may dry out a little bit midday tomorrow, showers and thunderstorms later tomorrow afternoon."
In addition to heavy rain and a flood threat tomorrow there is a small window for severe storms and an isolated tornado in the late afternoon/evening. This sounding for New Haven reveals very strong wind shear (300 m2/s2 0-3km SRH) and some instability. pic.twitter.com/kZCGj22fyX

It's an umbrella and rainboots kind of day Tuesday. A soaking rain could lead to poor drainage/street flooding in spots with rising humidity. Most of Wednesday is dry, warm and very humid. Two windows for strong storms: Daybreak & Wednesday night. pic.twitter.com/ojObbsNT1G
