Connecticut Weather: Nor'easter Conditions Possible On 5th Anniversary Of Sandy

A top local meteorologist says the storm already appears "impressive" in forecast models for Connecticut. Here are the latest details.

Here we go again. Connecticut got socked with between three to five inches of rain on Tuesday and now another significant rain and wind storm is in the forecast for Sunday into Monday. At this time, no one knows how much rain we could receive or just how strong the wind will be, but local meteorologists are already calling it an "impressive storm."

The National Weather Service has already issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for southern Connecticut. The NWS also issued a Special Weather Statement for northern Connecticut for today's heavy rain, which could lead to flooding concerns.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan wrote, "Impressive storm showing up on our computer models for Sunday. We'll have to watch this closely." In a blog post, Hanrahan added, "At this point be prepared for another round of flooding and tree damage and power outages. How bad either will be is to be determined but this one certainly bears watching."

In the NWS's morning statement it stated, "The potential exists for a strong cold front to approach from the west, while an intensifying storm moves up the coast, Sunday into Sunday night. This storm could produce heavy rain capable of causing areal and small stream flooding during this time frame, and also strong winds."

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons wrote, "Plan on rain around at least through mid morning today. It will dry out for the middle of the day with a few more scattered showers coming back for the late afternoon/evening. A beautiful forecast for Friday and Saturday with sunshine and temps in the 60s. Another rain and wind storm coming in on Sunday!"
