NY Man Arrested Attempting To Scam Bank In Cos Cob: Greenwich PD

GREENWICH, CT — Another New York suspect, this time a 23-year-old man from Brooklyn, was arrested on May 12 on several forgery, attempted larceny and identity theft charges after he allegedly tried to scam a local Chase Bank out of money, according to Greenwich police. The fraud arrest was the second one at a Chase Bank in Greenwich in the past several days.

Taj L. Davis was arrested after he allegedly tried to withdraw an undisclosed but "large sum of money" from the Cos Cob Chase Bank on the Post Road.

Officers swarmed the bank at about 1:30 p.m. on the 12th after staff reported that the accused was trying to take out cash using a fraudulent signature and ID. Greenwich police said that Davis was in possession of a fake VISA card at the time of the arrest.

Davis was charged with:

• Forgery, second degree (2 counts)
• Forgery, third degree
• Criminal impersonation
• Identity theft, third degree
• Criminal attempt at larceny, third degree

He was held in lieu of bail set at $5,000 and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 21.
