Officers Recover Gun During Traffic Stop On I-95: Greenwich Police

A car was being investigated by the NYPD in connection with a shooting. Greenwich officers stopped the car on I-95 on May 22, police said.

GREENWICH, CT — While investigating a car that was suspected of being involved in a New York City shooting, Greenwich police said they recovered a loaded gun and arrested a 29-year-old man.

Jermain Mcfee, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was arrested on May 22 and charged with illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle and criminal possession of a firearm, according to his arrest report.

On May 22 around 6 p.m., multiple Greenwich police officers were sent to Interstate-95 northbound near exit 4 to check on a car that was traveling through the area, police said.

The vehicle was being investigated by the New York City Police Department in connection with a shooting that took place on May 5, police said, noting that the occupants of the car "were believed to be armed and dangerous."

The car stopped on the eastern shoulder of I-95, and during the course of an investigation, a search on the car found a loaded gun hidden within a child's car seat, police said.

Mcfee, who is a convicted felon, took ownership of the weapon and was arrested, police said.

The CT judicial branch website shows that Mcfee posted 10 percent of his $20,000 bond. He's scheduled to appear in court on June 5.
