Osborn Home Care Opens Greenwich Office; Services Now Available in Connecticut

Home Care, Seniors, Office

Osborn Home Care received a warm welcome from the Town of Greenwich last week at the ribbon cutting for its new office on 125 Mason Street in downtown Greenwich. Third Selectman John Toner presented Osborn Home Care with a proclamation honoring the excellent services of its home care providers in conjunction with National Homecare Month.

The number of people who choose to age in place is rising steadily as the current generation of active seniors redefines retirement. Osborn Home Care, a non-profit corporation affiliated with The Osborn, the preeminent continuum-of-care community in Rye, New York, has been serving seniors on The Osborn campus and in their Westchester County homes since 1996. “We have been growing rapidly in Westchester; the response from the families we care for has been tremendous,” said Matthew G. Anderson, President and CEO of The Osborn. “We have many residents from Greenwich living on our Rye campus. Now we are able to bring the same quality of care to people who prefer to remain at home in Connecticut.”

“Getting to know the Greenwich community has been a top priority and the most enjoyable part for me since we opened in Greenwich,” said Michele Thomas, Executive Vice President of Osborn Home Care. “Understanding the needs of area residents and hiring local caregivers and staff is very important. Through this we have been able to get to know organizations, groups, and medical and social professionals who serve older adults.”

Osborn Home Care in Connecticut is a licensed homemaker-companion agency. In addition to general companionship, services may include assistance with daily routines, meal preparation and light housekeeping, and appointment and medication reminders.

Ms. Thomas joined Osborn Home Care in February 2015. Formerly she was President of Family Home Health Services/Family Home Physicians, based in Sarasota, Florida, which she joined in 2007. Ms. Thomas is a board member of SPRYE (Staying Put in Rye and Environs).

Business Development Manager Laurie Pensiero joined Osborn Home Care this June to help raise awareness of its services in Fairfield County. A native of Stamford, Connecticut, Mrs. Pensiero has worked in area healthcare organizations including Stamford Hospital Medical Center, Norwalk Hospital, Doctors Express Urgent Care (Stamford) and Fairfield Family Care.

“I am so pleased to represent Osborn Home Care,” said Mrs. Pensiero. “We have the highest standards of training for our aides, and the quality of The Osborn organization comes through in the level of service that our clients receive.”

“We hope to raise awareness about the value that different kinds of service providers bring to client family relationships,” explained Mrs. Pensiero. “All aides are all professionally trained in services for older people.”

Pensiero assists with educational outreach at Greenwich Hospital, volunteers with the Greenwich Commission on Aging, is on the event advisory committee for Silver Source, and is an active member of the Greenwich Rotary. In addition, she is an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) with Darien EMS Services at CT Post 53.

One of the more exciting aspects of expanding Osborn Home Care’s relationships in Fairfield County has been Ms. Thomas’s bi-weekly radio program called “Good Living” on WGCH (1490 am) at 9:30 am every other Tuesday. Her recent guests have included orthopedic surgeon Dr. Marc S. Kowalsky from Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists (ONS) in Greenwich; Lise Jameson, Executive Director of At Home in Greenwich; Christina Crain, Executive Director of the Stamford Senior Center; and Kathleen Bordelon, Executive Director of Silver Source (formerly known as Senior Services of Stamford).
