Plea Deal Reached By Suspect In Greenwich Underage Sex Case: Report

GREENWICH, CT — A 30-year-old Fairfield man, who had sexually explicit conversations online with a Greenwich police officer posing as a 14-year-old girl, reached a plea deal with prosecutors that will reportedly include a stint in prison.

John Majancsik pleaded guilty in Stamford Superior Court this week to one count of criminal attempt at second-degree sexual assault, wrote the Connecticut Post.

At his sentencing in October, Majancsik is expected to be ordered to serve nine months in prison out of a five-year suspended sentence, and he will have to register as a sex offender for 10 years. The plea deal was reached by Assistant State's Attorney Michael Bivona.

Majancsik was arrested in April 2022 after he befriended — who he thought was — an underage girl in an online chat room, and began "to steer the conversations towards becoming more sexually explicit in nature," according to Greenwich police. Additionally, police also said that Majancsik began describing sex acts he wanted to perform on the girl "in real life."

Police arrested Majancsik at a location in Greenwich, where he had arranged to meet the girl, according to police.
