UPDATE: Police Say 'Nothing Inherently Suspicious' in Death of Greenwich Man

The man reportedly fell down stairs in his home and died Sunday.

Update: 11:30 a.m.

Greenwich Police say there “was nothing inherently suspicious” about the untimely death of a man in his Riversville Road home early Sunday, however, the death remains under investigation.

Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray said in a statement, “Officers found a 78 (year-old) male within the residence at the bottom of the internal staircase amongst the shards of a broken vase. The elderly male suffered a head injury and other injuries when he struck that broken vase.”

Gray added, “There was nothing inherently suspicious about the incident, however all untimely deaths are investigated by the Detective Division.”

The man’s identity was not released.

Greenwich Police reportedly are investigating the sudden death of a 78-year-old Riversville Road resident.

Officers were called to the home about 4 a.m. Sunday and found a 78-year-old man had fallen down the stairs, suffered a head injury and died, according to Greenwich Time.

An autopsy of the unidentified man are pending, according to the report that can be found here.

Greenwich Police were not immediately available for comment Tuesday morning.
