Proposed Off-Leash Dog Park In Greenwich Clears First Hurdle
The Greenwich Board of Health unanimously signed off on the project during its meeting on Monday night.

GREENWICH, CT — A proposal for a new off-leash dog park in Byram cleared its first hurdle in the approval process Monday night, as the Greenwich Board of Health unanimously signed off by a vote of 7-0.
Parks and Recreation Director Joe Siciliano and Assistant Director Dan Carlson, along with First Selectman Fred Camillo, appeared before the board to answer questions about the proposed project, which calls for the construction of an 11,000 square foot, fenced-in, off-leash dog park within the boundaries of Byram Park near the pool delivery entrance off Ritch Avenue.
The proposal will now head to the Planning & Zoning Commission, although it's not clear when a review will be held. The project must also be approved by the Board of Selectmen and ultimately the Representative Town Meeting.

Camillo has said the park would primarily be "a walk-up park" for Byram residents. Pet Pantry Warehouse, a beloved local business, has pledged to donate money toward the project.
