Greenwich Rep. Appears in Jimmy Fallon Monologue Over Mount McKinley Comments

Fallon made a joke about the Senator's comments regarding the renaming of Mount McKinley.

After a Republican State Senator from Greenwich said the renaming of Mount McKinley in Alaska was personal to him, Jimmy Fallon had something to say during his opening monologue.

“You see this? A Connecticut State Senator who named one of his sons after Mount McKinley went on a rant against President Obama’s decision to change the mountain’s name this week,” Fallon said on The Tonight Show that aired Sept. 3. “Though he’s still not as upset as his other son Lake Titicaca.”

Frantz named all his children after mountains, with his eldest son named McKinley, the tallest mountain in the country that President Obama recently restored to its original name Denali. The mountain was renamed to strengthen cooperation between the Federal Government and Alaskan Native Tribes.

Frantz told Hearst Connecticut Media he didn’t appreciate the change.

“My kids are named after mountains in Alaska, and they’re taking that one away. I say that with tongue in cheek,” Frantz said.
