Restaurant Workers Beaten and Robbed in Greenwich

Police: The victims were walking home from work when they were attacked.

After a long night of working at a Port Chester restaurant just across the Greenwich border, two men were walking home about 3 a.m. Sunday.

They didn’t get too far. As they walked along North Water Street in the Byram neighborhood of Greenwich, they were accosted by men who beat and robbed them near the intersection of Armonk Street, according to Greenwich Police. The attack took place a couple blocks from where the victims work.

The victims were a 21-year-old Greenwich resident and 19-year-old Port Chester, NY man.

As the victims reached Armonk Street, a light-colored Subaru Forester with New York plates veered toward the sidewalk where the victims were walking and three suspects jumped out and attacked the men, according to Greenwich Police spokesman Lt. Kraig Gray.

The suspects punched and kicked the suspects while the fourth man stayed inside the vehicle, Gray said. Even though the men fought back, they were knocked to the ground and their cellphones and wallets were stolen, Gray said.

Police were called by residents who heard the commotion and peered out their windows, Gray said.

One victim continued to struggle with his attacker but then saw one of the suspects holding a handgun, Gray said. The victim backed away and the suspects fled.

The only description that the victims and witnesses were able to give police was that the suspects had dark complexions and spoke in Spanish.
