Road Closures, Parking Restrictions Announced For Greenwich St. Patrick's Day Parade
The town's annual St. Patrick's Day parade is scheduled to take place this weekend in Greenwich.
GREENWICH, CT — Police have announced a number of road closures and parking restrictions ahead of the town's annual St. Patrick's Day parade scheduled to take place Sunday in Greenwich.
In a Facebook post, police said the parade will begin at 2 p.m. and step off from the Town Hall southern parking lot, proceed north to U.S. Route 1, continue east to Greenwich Avenue and travel down Greenwich Avenue to Steamboat Road, where it will conclude.
To ensure public safety and the smooth operation of the event, several parking restrictions and road closures will be in effect, according to police:

The following parking restrictions (effective 10 a.m.) were provided by police:
- No parking on the east side of Greenwich Avenue from West Putnam Avenue to Steamboat Road.
- No parking on the west side of Greenwich Avenue from Bruce Place (Greenwich Commons Park) to Steamboat Road.
The following road closures were provided by police:

- Dayton Avenue will be closed beginning at 12 p.m. from Field Point Road to the supermarket entrance to accommodate parade staging.
- Downtown road closures will begin at approximately 1 p.m.
- U.S. Route 1 will be closed from Dearfield Drive to Lafayette Place from 1:45 p.m. to approximately 3 p.m.
According to police, detour signs and police officers will be present throughout the area to help direct traffic safely and efficiently.
Roads will reopen as soon as it is deemed safe following the parade's progression, police said.

According to police, parking regulations will be strictly enforced, and vehicles parked in violation of posted restrictions will be subject to towing.
"The Greenwich Police Department encourages residents and visitors to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes during the event," police wrote on Facebook. "We appreciate the continued cooperation of our community as we work to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for all. The St. Patrick's Day Parade is a valued tradition in Greenwich, and we thank everyone in advance for their patience and support."
