Rodent Found in Dress Sold by Greenwich Zara Store: Lawsuit

A woman was shocked and disgusted when she reached down to pull a loose string and found it was the leg of a rodent, she claims.

GREENWICH, CT — A New York woman who bought a dress at the Zara store on Greenwich Avenue was disgusted to find a rodent had been sewn into her new clothing, according to a lawsuit. Cailey Fiesel noticed a "disturbingly pungent odor" while at work and was unable to locate the source. She reached down later in the day to pull off what she thought was a loose string but in reality was a piece of rodent flesh.

Fiesel, 24, bought two dresses from the Zara store July 5 and first wore it several weeks later.

"To her utter shock and disbelief, as she ran her hand over the hem of the dress she felt an unusual bulge and suddenly realized that it was not a string that was rubbing against her leg, but was instead a leg rubbing up against her leg," the lawsuit states. "The leg of a dead rodent that is."

Her co-workers gathered around her after she jumped out of her chair when she realized that a dead rodent was rubbing against her body the whole day. She ran to take the dress off.

A label on the dress indicates it was made in Turkey.

Fiesel is suing for personal injuries and emotional distress and was diagnosed with a rodent-borne disease, according to the lawsuit. She attempted to settle with Zara outside of court, but Zara declined, according to the New York Post. The suit was filed in Manhattan.

Zara USA released a statement that said it was aware of the lawsuit and the matter is being investigated, according to the Post. The company added it has stringent health and safety standards.
