The suspect turned himself in on Aug. 1, after he allegedly began stalking the victim.

DARIEN, CT — A 47-year-old Stamford man, who was warned by a judge in June to stay away from a Darien person, was arrested on Aug. 1 on a charge of violation of a restraining order after he allegedly began tracking the victim through an app, according to Darien police.

Additionally, Greg Karas, of Bedford Street, was also charged with second-degree harrassment and second-degree threatening.

Darien police spoke to the victim on Aug. 1 and told them about the restraining order issued against Karas.

"The order issued against Mr. Karas stated in part: 'Do not contact the protected party in any manner' and 'do not threaten, abuse, harass, follow, interfere or stalk the protected person,'" wrote Darien police in a statement. "The Victim reported that they had received a notification email from a popular online 'app' indicating that Mr. Karas started 'following' the Victim online on or about 07-18- 2017. The Victim also recounted an incident where Mr. Karas threatened the Victim who now also reported that he had been seen driving by an area department store numerous times on 07-02- 2017 while the Victim was inside shopping."

Darien police immediately obtained an arrest warrant for Karas, and later on Aug. 1 officers arrested him. He was released after posting a $25,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 2.
