Connecticut Weather: Snow Next Week Appears More Miss Than Hit

The next chance of snow has been pegged possibly for Monday/Tuesday. New data shows the storm track has changed a bit. Here's the latest.

A couple of days ago there was talk about the next chance of snow for Connecticut coming possibly on Monday and Tuesday. As we've gotten closer to that time period it appears the snow-chance is likely to be more of a miss than anything else. New computer models show the storm tracking further east now, which if that trend continues would limit the impacts to Connecticut. Connecticut could still see some flakes but nothing substantial is currently expected.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said late Friday, "If you don't like snow you're going to love our evening computer mode runs. All east a bit and showing just a glancing blow. Still worth watching but the trends today are showing a less impressive storm for Monday/Tuesday. Have a great weekend!"

The National Weather Service in a Saturday morning update agrees with Hanrahan noting that the storm has "trended farther east...which typically does not favor a significant winter storm for the area." However, the weather service does note it's possible the storm could wobble and track more to the west over the next couple of days.

"Often the past several winters, offshore low development in the wintertime has often trended back to the NW in conjunction with upper jet dynamics. This will have to be watched carefully," the National Weather Service says.

The National Weather Service does show that an inch or two of snow is still possible for Hartford and Tolland counties according to its latest accumulation estimates.
