Snowfall Helps Slightly Fill Greenwich Reservoir

GREENWICH, CT — The Greenwich reservoir got a slight reprieve thanks to the weekend snow.

The reservoir level was up to 33.5 percent from 30.3 percent, according to the Greenwich Time.

Cold ground helped rain make it directly into the reservoir as the changeover from snow happened, Aquarion Public Relations Director Peter Fazekas said.

The downside to frozen ground is the groundwater system doesn't get recharged as fast, Town Conservation Director Denise Savageau said.
