Harry Arora, a Greenwich Republican, registered on Monday as a candidate for State Treasurer.
GREENWICH, CT — State Rep. Harry Arora, R-151, registered on Monday to seek the Republican nomination for Connecticut State Treasurer, according to the Republican-American.
Arora confirmed his filing to Patch on Tuesday, and said he'd be making a formal announcement soon.
In February, Arora formed an exploratory committee to examine a possible run.

"Connecticut needs a fresh and bold financial strategy to reduce our massive debt, to lower taxes, and to spur job growth. In the last decade, there has been little income growth and our population is where it was a decade ago," Arora said at the time. "While the surplus arising from the federal dollars is temporarily helping, the long-term situation has worsened because of inflation. In the coming weeks, I plan to meet residents across the state and take their views in making a decision."
Arora has spent 25 years in the private sector managing investments before pivoting to public service.

Arora currently serves as a State Representative for the General Assembly’s 151st District, which includes parts of Cos Cob, Riverside, Old Greenwich and North Mianus. Arora was re-elected to serve his first full two-year term in November 2020 after winning a special election in 2019 to fill the seat previously held by now-Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo.
In 2018, Arora ran unsuccessfully against incumbent Democratic congressman Jim Himes for the 4th District.
Current State Treasurer and Democrat Shawn T. Wooden has not announced yet if he will run for re-election.
The Republican-American reported that Arora is the only registered candidate at the moment.
