CT Weather: Thunderstorm Threat Increasing Today, More Friday

The state's top meteorologists say the chance for severe weather today is increasing. Here is what you can expect.

The chance for some isolated severe weather in Connecticut today is growing, according to the state's top meteorologists. The stormy weather, which can include thunderstorms, strong wind gusts and possibly flooding concerns, will continue off and on through Saturday.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, "Keep your eyes to the sky, there could be a shower or thunderstorm this afternoon. High temperatures 85 to around 90. Showers and thunder from time to time tomorrow and Saturday. Dry weather and slightly less humid on Sunday with sunshine!"

The National Weather Service says we can expect a "tropical-like airmass" for the next several days with temps in the upper 80s to 90 plus degrees. In a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Southern Connecticut, the weather service says, "There is a low chance of flash flooding from late Friday night through Saturday morning."

For Northern Connecticut, the weather service says, "There is the potential for a few strong to severe thunderstorms, some with excessive rainfall that may bring a risk for localized flooding especially in urban corridors. Locally strong to damaging wind gusts are also possible.
