Swing to the Big Band Music of the Fairfield Counts
The Greenwich Parks and Rec weekly concert will feature the 18-member band Wednesday night.

The Fairfield Counts Big Band will perform this week’s Department of Parks and Recreation concert in the park at the Roger Sherman Baldwin Park.
The 90-minute concert begins at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12. The rain date is Thursday, Aug. 13.
The Fairfield Counts has 18 musicians and a female vocalist and is considered the premier big band in Connecticut. They have appeared throughout Fairfield County and the tri-state area since its inception in 1976, bringing back the nostalgic sounds of the Big Band era.

The band’s repertoire includes the original arrangements of big band classics from Fletcher Henderson in the ‘30s to Woody Herman in the ‘80s, in addition to big band versions of contemporary tunes, the sounds of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw, Harry James, Benny Goodman, Count Basie, Hoagy Carmichael and George and Ira Gershwin.
