Town Argues Driver Error In Greenwich Marina Fatality: Report

New Jersey resident Patrick Conroy drowned in September 2015 after accidentally driving off an embankment into the water.

GREENWICH, CT — In legal filings this month, attorneys for the Town of Greenwich are arguing that an 80-year-old man who drowned after driving off an embankment into the water at Greenwich Marina was at fault for the fatal accident, reports the Greenwich Time.

Wall, NJ resident Patrick Conroy died in the September 2015 incident, and his family sued the town arguing that his death was the result of negligence by the town for not having barriers or guardrails at the site.

The town argues that driver error led to Conroy's death, in part because he did not drive safely nor did he take his surroundings into account.
