Vehicle Stolen, Items Taken In Greenwich: Police

GREENWICH, CT — A vehicle was stolen and others were rummaged through over the weekend in Greenwich, according to police. Lt. Mark Zuccerella said an Audi was stolen from Buena Vista Drive in the Glenville area of town on Saturday, April 11.

According to Zuccerella, an investigation revealed the vehicle was seen driving around Bristol and Hartford over the weekend, however it has not been recovered as of Monday morning. The vehicle was unlocked, Zuccerella said. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Additionally, police received three complaints of thefts from vehicles over the weekend, one of which was near where the Audi was stolen, Zuccerella said. Each vehicle was also unlocked, Zuccerella said.

"I cannot stress [enough]...that these cars are not stolen for profit," Zuccerella said in an email. "They are stolen to commit crimes."

The lieutenant also noted the reported thefts from motor vehicles are likely the result of thieves looking for keys in unlocked cars.

"These crimes are 100 percent preventable," Zuccerella said.
