"Out of the 22 cars stolen this year, we have recovered 18 of them," Zuccerella said in an email. "Investigation revealed that all but two [vehicles] have been stolen by juveniles offenders from outside of Greenwich. All of the cars stolen this year had the keys inside of them."
The lieutenant also noted officers who work the department's "midnight shift" have been successful in preventing more thefts.

"We investigate each car theft and have some leads to follow up on, but the best preventive measure is for the vehicle owners to remove their keys and lock the car doors," Zuccerella said. "Lock it or lose it."
