Vikings take over first place in FCIAC West with 61-43 victory over the Cardinals

The Westhill boys basketball team handed Greenwich its second straight loss - and first at home this season -- with a 61-43 victory on Friday night.
Chris Waters scored 21 points for the Vikings, who took over first place in the FCIAC West. Westhill improved to 8-3 in the FCIAC and 9-4 overall.
Greenwich, which was coming off a 61-45 defeat at Bridgeport Central, dropped to 7-4 and 9-4.

The Vikings, who have been playing like a playoff team, began to pull away in the second quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 16-8 to take a 27-17 halftime lead.
Westhill extended its advantage to 42-28 after three periods.

Samuel Dorissiant scored 11 points and Tony Dobbinson added 10 for the Vikings, who have won four in a row but still have to play Danbury, St. Joseph and Trinity Catholic.
Greg Donlic scored 18 points and Alex McMurray added 11 for the Cardinalls, who are off until Feb. 3 when they visit Trumbull. Greenwich dropped to 6-1 at home this season.
