Connecticut Weather: Winter Storm Watch Issued for Wednesday Snow

It may be spring tomorrow but that won't mean much as we're gearing up for another significant nor'easter snowstorm.

A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the entire state of Connecticut for a significant snowstorm on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Are you really surprised? Yes, previous forecasts had the storm largely missing the state but always with a strong cautionary tale that any shift in the storm's track could lead to heavy snow.

And that is apparently what is happening here as the storm is tracking closer to Connecticut and will produce heavy, wet snow at times on Wednesday. A general 4 to 9 inches of snow is expected statewide, according to the National Weather Service, accompanied with gusty winds.

We'll have to see what this will mean for school on Wednesday and Thursday. For all of Southern Connecticut, "Heavy wet snow possible. Total wet snow accumulations of 4 to 9 inches, with locally higher amounts possible."

"Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the evening commute on Wednesday. Tree branches could fall. Significant reductions in visibility are possible. A combination of the heavy wet snow and wind gusts of 25 to 40 mph could bring down tree limbs and power lines, creating power outages," the National Weather Service says.

For Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties, "Total snow accumulations of 5 to 8 inches, with localized amounts up to 11 inches, are possible."

Good line from WTNH-News 8 Meteorologist Joe Furey.

The first day of spring is tomorrow and there is also a chance for more snow on Sunday. Sorry.
