Some areas of the state could see nearly a foot of snow by early Monday.
Nearly a foot of snow could fall in parts of Connecticut on Sunday afternoon through early Monday as a major snowstorm is on it way. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the entire state.
For Fairfield, New Haven and the northern sections of Middlesex and New London counties, "Moderate to heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches possible."
For the coast of Middlesex and New London counties, "Moderate to heavy wet snow possible. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 6 inches possible."

And a Special Weather Statement has been issued for all of Southern Connecticut as "High temperatures ranged from the upper 30s to lower 40s today resulting in the melting of snow across the area. Temperatures will drop to or below the freezing mark tonight causing slippery spots on untreated surfaces due to the refreezing of snow melt. Anyone venturing out tonight should use caution if encountering areas that appear to be wet."
A winter storm that dumped several inches of snow, primarily in Southern Connecticut thus far, will exit the state around noon Saturday. And the National Weather Service has already issued a Winter Storm Watch virtually statewide for our our next and likely biggest snowstorm of the season, which is forecast to hit Sunday into Monday.
Most of Connecticut will receive six plus inches of snow, which will lead to very challenging travel conditions Sunday evening and for Monday morning's commute. It's a good bet that schools will be closed in many locations Monday, if the current forecast holds.
While one storm wraps up this morning, another, more powerful storm is about to move in. Here are a look at all of the weather statements currently in effect and posted for Sunday/Monday.
Fairfield and New Haven counties, along with northern sections of Middlesex and New London counties: A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until noon today as an additional two to four inches of snow is expected here. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Sunday afternoon through Monday morning as five to eight inches of snow is expected here.
Coastline of Middlesex and New London counties: A Winter Weather Advisory expires at noon today as a couple of additional inches of snow is possible. And on Sunday, where more of a mix is expected here, "Snow is expected Sunday night into early Monday morning with 2 to 5 inches possible. There is a chance that snow totals will be slightly higher."
Hartford CT-Tolland CT-Windham CT: A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. tonight for an additional two to three inches of snow. The snow started later here due to all of the dry area overnight. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Sunday evening through Monday morning as seven to ten inches of snow is expected through Monday morning.
Litchfield County: The Winter Weather Advisory expires at 1 p.m. today and an additional one to four inches of snow is expected. A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Monday morning. Total snow accumulations of 7 or more inches possible.
