Connecticut Weather: Winter Weather Advisory Issued For Christmas
Here's the latest details on how much snow and ice to expect and when it will begin and end on Christmas.

The National Weather Service on Sunday morning issued a "Winter Weather Advisory" and "Wind Advisory" for the entire state for Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. It appears that Litchfield, Hartford and Tolland counties will end up with a White Christmas, while southern Connecticut will see more of an any icy Christmas based on the new updates from the National Weather Service.
According to the National Weather Service's advisory for Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties: "Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 p.m. this evening to 1 p.m. Monday."
* WHAT...Freezing rain is forecast. The ice will result in very slippery conditions on sidewalks, roads and bridges. Additional ice accumulations of a light glaze to a few hundredths of an inch are expected.

* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Monday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Freezing rain may mix with snow at times, resulting in icy road conditions.

Winds will also gust between 25 to 35 mph on Christmas Day with some gusts up to 50 mph. An inch of snow and ice is possible for southern Connecticut.
For Hartford and Tolland counties, the weather service says the weather advisory begins at 10 p.m. tonight and continues until 1 p.m. Monday.
* WHAT...Light to moderate snow expected potentially mixed with sleet and freezing rain. Plan on slippery road conditions, including during the morning commute on Monday. Total snow accumulations of around 2 to 5 inches are expected along with a possible trace of ice.
* WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Monday. Winds will also gust between 15 to 20 mph with some gusts reaching 45 mph.

WTNH News 8 Meteorologist Gil Simmons said, "Dry weather all day today for running around! Highs 36-40. Snow arriving tonight 10PM-1AM. Some rain/mixing issues immediate shoreline & SE CT."
