Woman Charged After Leaving Dog In Trunk Of Hot Vehicle: GPD
The incident occurred on Grove Street in Cos Cob on Wednesday.
GREENWICH, CT — A 56-year-old Wilton woman was issued a misdemeanor summons on Wednesday charging her with cruelty to animals after she allegedly left a dog in the trunk of a hot vehicle in Cos Cob, according to Greenwich police.
Officers were called to the scene on Grove Street at about 8:45 a.m. and found the dog - a black labrador retriever - in the trunk of the woman's black Volvo station wagon with the vehicle's windows closed.
"On scene officers determined that the [dog] was within the trunk of the vehicle for approximately thirty minutes and was salivating due to the heat which caused the [dog] distress," wrote Greenwich police in a statement.

According to AccuWeather.com, Greenwich temperatures reached the low 80s on July 18, though the exact temperature at the time of the incident was not immediately available.
Charged was Linda A. Scalley, of Own Home Avenue. She was released on a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Aug. 1.
