YMCA Of Greenwich Appoints New CEO
Matthew Skaarup will be the new CEO for the YMCA of Greenwich, effective Dec. 6.

GREENWICH, CT — Earlier this week, the YMCA of Greenwich announced the appointment of Matthew Skaarup as its new Chief Executive Officer.
Skaarup, who has over 25 years of experience in nonprofit management, was selected by the YMCA of Greenwich Board of Directors. He will succeed Patrice Francois, who served as the interim CEO.
In the new role, Skaarup "will be responsible for increasing membership services, family and youth programming, and further developing community wellness initiatives," the YMCA of Greenwich said in a news release.

Skaarup's appointment is effective Dec. 6.
Skaarup began his YMCA career in New York State with the Capital District YMCA in Albany, according to a news release. During his time there, Skaarup worked in several different branches. He holds a bachelor's degree from Manhattan College.

Currently, Skaarup is the District Executive Director with oversight of the Guilderland and Duanesburg branches. He's also the project lead for the management agreement with the Fulton County YMCA in Johnstown, N.Y.
"It is an honor to have the opportunity to lead an organization that has such a meaningful impact on the lives of the Greenwich community," Skaarup said in a news release. "I look forward to continuing the vital work the YMCA has provided for over a century and finding new ways to serve the people of Greenwich."
During the search process, Shahryar Oveissi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greenwich, said Skaarup's "energy and vision for the Greenwich YMCA" that separated him from other candidates.
"With Matt’s extensive experience in nonprofit management and passion for social responsibility and healthy living, we know that the YMCA of Greenwich will have outstanding leadership for years to come," Oveissi added in a news release. "We welcome Matt as the Greenwich YMCA celebrates its 105th Anniversary serving the community."
Oveissi also thanked Francois for serving as the interim CEO.
"Her dedication and commitment to the Y allowed our organization to function smoothly and efficiently while we searched for the right candidate," he said.
