2 Arrested After Victim Pistol-Whipped In Groton Robbery: Police

Police are searching for a third suspect after a victim was assaulted during a robbery at a Groton motel.

GROTON, CT — Two people are facing a litany of charges after a victim was struck with a gun during a robbery at the Super 8 Motel in Groton.

Police responded Sunday at 9:50 a.m. after Groton Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call from a male victim reporting he had been assaulted and had property stolen from him at the Super 8.

Police met with the victim who had sustained a wound on the side of his head due to being struck with a pistol. The suspects had stolen several items of value from the victim, according to police.

Officers identified three suspects, then set up a perimeter around the motel. They took two of the three suspects into custody.

Angela Allen, 45, of Naugatuck, was found with numerous drugs and related paraphernalia on her, police said. She was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, possession of narcotics, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was held on $100,000 bond and scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Tuesday.

Miguel Costa Jr., 33, of Oakdale, was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, second-degree assault, first-degree conspiracy to commit larceny, second-degree conspiracy to commit assault, first-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, criminal possession of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree unlawful restraint, carrying a pistol without a permit, and illegal sale/purchase of large-capacity magazine.

He was held on $150,000 bond and scheduled to appear Monday in New London Superior Court.

Police are still searching for a third suspect in the case.

The victim was treated at the scene of the crime for non-life-threatening injuries.
