2 Charged In Attempted Robbery That Led To Gunshots: Groton Police
The victim arranged a meeting to sell jewelry at a Groton parking where two men attempted to rob him, according to police.
GROTON, CT — Two men are facing charges that they attempted to rob a victim and fired shots at his vehicle, according to police.
The Groton Emergency Dispatch Center received multiple calls Sept. 10 at 7:54 p.m. reporting gunshots in the area of Pleasant Valley Road South. A victim called simultaneously reporting that he'd been robbed.
The victim told police that he had arranged a meeting at the Groton Square parking lot at 220 Route 12 to sell a piece of jewelry.

The driver of a Hyundai Sonata, which also had two passengers, exited the vehicle to see the jewelry. While the victim was showing the piece of jewelry, two men approached him from behind. One of them had a gun and attempted to rip the necklace from his hand, according to police.
The two men then ran off while the Hyundai headed north on Route 12.

The victim followed and the Hyundai turned onto Pleasant Valley Road South. While on this road, one of the rear passengers in the car fired shots at his vehicle several times out the window.
Police said it appeared to be an isolated incident.
Michael A. Davis, Jr., 18, of Groton, was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree attempted robbery, and weapon in a motor vehicle. Davis was held on $250,000 bond and arraigned Wednesday at New London Superior Court.
Joel L. Woodhall, 18, of Groton, was charged with first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree attempted robbery, weapon in a motor vehicle, unlawful discharge of a firearm, and first-degree reckless endangerment. Woodhall was held on $300,000 bond and arraigned Wednesday at New London Superior Court.
