$5.1 Billion Contract Awarded To Electric Boat For Submarine Design
The Electric Boat has been awarded approximately $5.1 billion to finish the design of a Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine.

GROTON, CT - The Electric Boat has been awarded a $5,071,534,074 to finish the design of a Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine. These funds will also go towards preparing for construction.
The contract was announced by the U.S. Department of Defense on Thursday, which specified that 77. 4 percent of work on the project will be performed in Groton. The remaining percentage of work will be performed in Newport News, Virginia, and Quonset, Rhode Island by subcontractor. The contract also includes component and technology development, United Kingdom Strategic Weapon Support System kit manufacturing and missile tube module and reactor compartment bulkhead prototyping and manufacturing efforts for the submarines.
