Air & Sea Celebration to Honor Ct Submarine Century & National Aviation Day

A special Air & Sea Celebration will be held on Friday, August 19 from 6 – 9 p.m. in the North Hangar at the Groton-New London Airport in Groton. Join the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce, Groton Business Association, and Mystic Jet Center for a night of excellent food, entertainment, and fun, all in the view of airplanes within an actual hangar.

The celebration recognizes Connecticut’s yearlong celebration of the 100th anniversary of Groton’s Naval Submarine Base, honoring all those who serve our community and our nation. The night’s entertainment will include music by The Sue Menhart Band and Wooly Mammoth, delicious cuisine from local restaurants and beer from regional breweries. Attendees will also enjoy the Submarine Photography Exhibit, special submarine related displays and activities, and the TapSnap interactive photo booth. Guests can even create their own personalized #submarineproud flag to add to the Submarine Century Flag-Line.

Discounted early purchase tickets are still available at www.mysticchamber.org, and full price tickets will be available at the door while they last. A portion of all event proceeds to benefit the Connecticut Submarine Century project to bring the sail of the submarine USS Groton home for permanent display.
