Armed Robbers Fire Shots At Driver In Groton: Police

A victim told police that he was robbed at gunpoint. He followed a car linked to the robbery and shots were fired at him.

GROTON, CT — A man was robbed at gunpoint and shots were fired in a Sunday night incident, according to police. Town of Groton police received multiple calls at 7:54 p.m. reporting gunshots in the area of Pleasant Valley Road South.

A victim reported to police that he had arranged to meet a man at Groton Square parking lot at 220 Route 12 to sell a piece of jewelry. The buyer showed up with two other men.

While the victim was showing the necklace to the purported buyer, the two other men approached him. One of the men, who was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, pulled out a gun, pointed it at the victim, and tried to rip the necklace from his hand.

The two men then ran off to the east side of the parking lot while the purported buyer, who was driving a Hyundai Sonata, left the parking lot and headed north on Route 12 with the victim following.

The Hyundai turned onto Pleasant Valley Road South. One of the rear passengers fired at the victim's vehicle several times out the window. Police found shell casings on the road as evidence of the shooting.

No injuries were reported as a result of the shots fired.
