Children will discover fairy houses in the gardens of the Avery-Copp House, enjoy tea with treats in the parlor and make a flower crown.

The fairies have come to the Avery-Copp House! Children are invited to see the tiny houses in the gardens of the house at 154 Thames St. in Groton, and to enjoy a tea with treats in the parlor, Wednesday July 13 from 1 PM to 3 PM. Children will also be able to learn about the language of flowers and make a flower crown to take home.

Admission is $10. Children should be accompanied by an adult. Reservations are required. Call 860-445-1637 or email averycopphouse@sbcglobal.net.

The Avery-Copp House is located in the Groton Bank National Register Historic District and can be visited on the web at www.AveryCoppHouse.org. The historic house was built in the colonial style in the early 1800s and Victorianized at the turn of the 20th century. The furnishings are original and reflect generations of the American family that lived here for 200 years. Two Victorian gazebos sit above the house on the terraced lawns of the riverside property. Visitors to the house learn about the history of Groton by exploring domestic life as it was experienced in this house and the surrounding community.
