Construction Causes Delays and Heavy Traffic Near Groton on I-95
Drivers are advised to seek out alternate routes.

GROTON, CT- Heavy pockets of delays and traffic are to be expected as a result of construction in the right lane of Interstate 95 northbound near Exit 89, the Westerly Sun reported.
The work has caused nearly 20 minutes of delays as motorists are required to merge into one lane as the right lane is closed for about a quarter of a mile, according to the Westerly Sun. Traffic is reported for about three quarters of a mile beforehand.
Due to the delays, cars have attempted to back down the on-ramp at Exit 88 to get back onto Route 117, as reported by the Westerly Sun. Construction is expected to last through 3 p.m., and motorists are advised to seek out alternate routes.
