About UConn Avery Point
Avery Point is one of four regional campuses of UConn. The easiest way to remember is to imagine one University with five campuses and ours is the only one with an ocean view! We are located in Groton, Connecticut and the former Morton Plant estate is the site of our administrative and academic buildings. Avery Point celebrated its 50th birthday as a UConn campus in 2017 so we are now over half a century young!
The University of Connecticut is one of America’s top 25 public universities, according to U.S. News & World Report. The main campus is in Storrs, about 42 miles north of Avery Point, and many students choose to start their UConn journey at a smaller regional campus like Avery Point and then seamlessly campus change to Storrs to finish their degree. Others choose UConn Avery Point as a destination and major in American Studies, English, General Studies, Marine Sciences, or Maritime Studies and never have to leave this beautiful, seaside campus. Their entire UConn degree is earned right here and for these students, it is the best of both worlds: the opportunity to experience the academic richness of a top tier research institution while studying on a small, vibrant, and very family-oriented UConn campus.
