Family Of Slain Groton Teen Waiting On Answers: Reports

D'Nazia Uzzle's death was recently ruled a homicide. Her family is seeking answers three months after she was killed.

GROTON, CT — The state Chief Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death of D'Nazia Uzzle, 17, to be a homicide, NBC CT reported. Emergency responders found Uzzle unresponsive April 15 at a home in New London in the area of Jefferson Avenue and Buchanan Road.

She was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital and pronounced deceased. Two other people from the same home were transported to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. A 40-year-old and a 19-year-old were both treated for stab wounds.

The Chief Medical Examiner's Office ruled Monday that the cause of Uzzle's death was “sudden death during a physical altercation with neck compression and blunt injuries,” The Day reported.

Police have made no arrests three months after Uzzle's death, NBC CT reported. Her aunt, Michele Lucas, said that while they are trying to be patient, they want justice. Lucas told The Day that she was "puzzled and concerned" that nothing has been done.

New London police said in a statement that they "will continue to work diligently" with prosecutors on the investigation, which remains "a priority," The Day reported.
