Fatal Groton Overdose Leads To Prison Time for Man
A man was arrested following a fatal heroin overdose.

LEDYARD, CT — A Ledyard man was sentenced to 30 months in prison after he distributed heroin that was used in an overdose last year, according to federal authorities.
Groton Police responded to an overdose involving a 25-year-old male on April 12, 2016. He was transported to the hospital where he died, according to the U.S. Attorney District of Connecticut office.
Law enforcement reviewed his phone records and interviewed witnesses to learn that the victim purchased heroin from Timothy Paprocki, 33. Paprocki got his supply from Rudy Hernandez and then sold it to the victim, according to the U.S. Attorney office.
Paprocki was arrested April 20 and pleaded guilty in December to one count of distribution of heroin. He has unrelated state charges pending and will begin serving his federal sentence when he completes his state sentence.
Hernandez was sentenced to 34 months in prison in November.
