Flood Damage On Thames Street Impacts EB Commute
City police say an update will come mid-morning, but for now, flash flooding from Monday storms has closed Thames Street near Smith Street.
GROTON CITY, CT—Groton City police posted a late night alert for residents about flash flood damage in the city. And more rain is on its way.
Police said that during last nights' thunderstorms, the significant rain that fell in the City caused "localized flash flooding and damage resulted on Thames Street near Smith Street."
Police said just after midnight that Thames Street was closed at the intersections of Smith and at Ledyard Avenue. Police said the City of Groton Highway Department was working it late last night but added that there was "no timeline for reopening the roadway" at the time.
