GROTON, CT – The Groton Congressional Church is attempting to kickstart a new community meals program, The Day reported.

The church previously raised more than $2,000 at a colossal yard sale in September and will put the money towards the program, according to The Day. Some of the money was also donated to the Groton Food Locker and Groton Human Services.

The church has passed the necessary inspections to host meals, but needs permanent licensing to host a meal on Thanksgiving, The Day reported. The Thanksgiving meal will be a traditional turkey dinner with side dishes and desserts.
