Groton Council Cuts $5.2 million from Board's Budget Request
Councilors said they anticipate an additional $5 million cut in education funding to come from the state.

GROTON, CT - The Groton Town Council cut $5.2 million from the Board of Education’s budget request Monday night, the New London Day reported.
Council voted to cut approximately 6.7 percent from the board’s request for the fiscal year starting July 1, according to the New London Day. Councilors said they anticipate an additional $5 million cut in education funding to come from the state.
The council’s vote would provide $72.5 million in education funding for the coming fiscal year, the New London Day reported. The board had initially put in a request for $77.7 million.
