Groton Fire Department Receives 3 Grants in 1 Year After Financial Struggles
The grants have been a step back in the right direction after struggling financially in recent years.

GROTON, CT – The Poquonnock Bridge Fire Department has received three grants in the past 12 months, The Day reported.
The department had struggled financially in recent years, and the grants have been a step back in the right direction, according to The Day. Expenses had gotten so bad in 2014 that nine firefighters were laid off.
Among the grants received this year was a $61,905 Federal Emergency Management Agency grant, The Day reported. The money will help Poquonnock Bridge replace its 31-year old air replenishment system, among other things.
