Groton Gives Out 140 Backpacks Filled with School Supplies to Children
The Department of Human Services distributed more than 100 backpacks to a large number of kids.

GROTON, CT – The Department of Human Services distributed 140 backpacks to children on Friday, The Day reported.
The number distributed this year was 66 percent more than last year, according to The Day. Children were eligible if they lived in a household that received state assistance, as well as financial or food assistance from Groton Human Services.
The backpacks were filled with school supplies the children would need for the upcoming school year, The Day reported. Items included binders, notebooks, pens and paper among other things.
