Groton Home Suffers Extensive Damage In Fire
A Groton home was badly damaged in a fire Saturday afternoon that started in a garage and spread to the exterior due to high winds.
GROTON, CT — A fire caused extensive damage at a Groton home on Saturday afternoon. Groton Emergency Dispatch received multiple 911 calls regarding a fire at 134 Cow Hill Road in the Mystic section of town at 12:10 p.m., police said.
Police and firefighters arrived at the address and found the garage fully engulfed in flames. Due to high winds, the fire spread to the exterior of the home.
A person who had been home at the time safely evacuated.

Firefighters were able to quickly bring the blaze under control and stop the fire spreading to the home's second floor, according to an Old Mystic Fire Department post.
No injuries were reported.

The home suffered major damage in the blaze and building officials deemed it uninhabitable.
Fire departments from Old Mystic, Mystic Fire Department, Poquonnock Bridge, North Stonington, and the Sub Base Fire assisted in extinguishing the fire. Mystic River Ambulance and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital also responded.
New London County Canteen responded and provided aid to those displaced by the fire and to first responders at the scene.
The Red Cross assisted with finding shelter for the residents displaced by the fire.
The Connecticut State Police Fire Investigation and Explosion Unit, the Groton Town Police Fire Investigation Unit, the Groton Town Police Criminal Investigation Division, and the Old Mystic Fire Department are investigating the fire.
