Groton Legislator To Enter Program That Could Dismiss DUI Charge
A lawmaker charged with DUI earlier this month is entering a diversionary program for first-time offenders, according to a report.
GROTON, CT — A judge granted State Rep. Aundré Bumgardner (D-Groton), who was charged with DUI earlier this month, entry into a diversionary program for first-time offenders, WTNH News-8 reported.
He is required to complete complete about a dozen alcohol education classes and one victim impact panel through the impaired driving intervention program. If he completes the program, the charges against him will be dismissed.

Bumgardner was arrested March 2 and charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence.
He was taken into custody on the Gold Star Bridge and reportedly had a blood-alcohol level more than twice the legal limit.

Bumgardner, 30, represents the 41st District, which includes Groton and Stonington. He is the assistant majority leader and serves on the Finance, Revenue & Bonding, Planning & Development, and Environment Committees.
